Ignore Zones and Cropping in Compare
Some parts of a page are different in every file and are not real changes: a lot number, an expiry date, a date stamp, printer marks around the edge. In Compare Versions you can tell Compare to set these aside.
There are two tools, both in the Ignore zones section of the Changes list.
Ignoring part of the page
1. Click Add ignore zone.
2. On the left-hand version, drag a box around the area you want to leave out.
3. The zone is added to the list under Ignore zones. Changes inside it turn grey on the page and in the Changes list.
Add as many zones as you need. To take one away, click Remove next to it.
Changes inside an ignore zone are not deleted. They stay in the list, greyed out, so you can still see that something there is different.
Comparing only part of the page
Use Crop when you only care about one area, for example a single panel of a carton.
1. Click Crop.
2. On the left-hand version, drag a box around the area you want to compare.
3. Compare runs again and lists only the changes inside that area.
Click Clear crop to go back to the whole page.
Good to know
- Ignore zones and the crop last until you close Compare. They are not saved with the content.
- To cancel while you are drawing, click Cancel.
- A zone you draw applies to the page you drew it on.
